Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, was assassinated on April 14, 1865. He was shot by John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate sympathizer, while attending a play at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. Lincoln passed away the following day, April 15, 1865. The assassination occurred shortly after the end of the American Civil War.



This paper is unique in that it was printed with black borders down the columns. Just reading through it shows the incredible shock and grief that the country was going through at the time.
